Bob Dylan performed his first official New York concert at Carnegie Chapter Hall, marking a major milestone despite only 53 people attending. The young folk singer had been signed to Columbia Records just days earlier. Hear the recording​

1963
The Beatles took the stage at the Royal Variety Performance at London's Prince of Wales Theatre, performing for the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret. John Lennon famously told the audience: "For our last number, I'd like to ask your help. The people in the cheaper seats clap your hands. And the rest of you, if you'd just rattle your jewellery". Marvin Gaye released "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)," which would peak at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and become one of his signature hits. Listen here​​
